Missing Policeman: Search and Rescue Efforts in Kampung Giching (2026)

Search and rescue efforts persist for a missing police officer, authorities confirm.

SEPANG: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a missing policeman, presumed swept away by strong currents in Kampung Giching, continues with a dedicated team of approximately 60 personnel from various agencies. Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman revealed that the operation involves the fire and rescue department (JBPM), civil defense force (APM), police, and local villagers.

The SAR commenced at approximately 11 p.m. yesterday and paused at 4:30 a.m. today, resuming at 7:30 a.m. With no concrete evidence of the victim's fate, the focus remains on personal belongings found in the vehicle, confirmed to belong to the 23-year-old officer. These items include a 'pouch' containing a police identification card, shoes, and a jacket.

Witness accounts indicate the victim was clinging to a signboard before being swept away by the powerful current. Initial information suggests the victim, from the Nilai police station, was en route to work after a family visit.

The incident occurred when the officer's car became trapped in rising floodwaters near Klinik Desa Giching, leading to fears of drowning.
