Big news for Nebraska football fans! The Cornhuskers have just snagged a commitment from Boston College's defensive tackle, Owen Stoudmire, bolstering their defensive line. This is a significant move, so let's dive into the details.
Stoudmire, a 6-foot-1, 292-pound interior defender, brings a wealth of experience with him, as he's entering his sixth year of college football. He's exactly what the team needs.
Stoudmire's journey began at Boston College in 2021, where he redshirted. He saw action in 19 games across the 2022 and 2023 seasons, racking up 17 tackles. His breakout year came in 2024, where he played in 13 games, starting twice, and setting career highs with 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Unfortunately, in 2025, after stepping into a starting role, an injury cut his season short after only three starts, but he still managed five tackles before the setback.
He entered the transfer portal on January 14th and visited Nebraska the very next day, quickly committing to the Huskers. This acquisition adds crucial veteran leadership and depth to the defensive line.
But here's where it gets exciting: Stoudmire is expected to be a key player in strengthening Nebraska's run defense in the A and B gaps while also contributing to the pass rush. He'll be joining a strong interior line group that includes returning players like Riley Van Poppel, Gabe Moore, and others, along with newcomers like Andy Burburjia and Jahsear Whittington.
The Huskers are also actively recruiting 2026 four-star defensive lineman Dylan Berymon, who officially visited last weekend. Berymon, standing at 6-foot-1.5 and weighing 330 pounds, is also considering Kentucky and Oklahoma State.
And this is the part most people miss: Nebraska has seen some departures on the interior defensive line this offseason, with Elijah Jeudy exhausting his eligibility and Jaylen George transferring to Tulsa. Dylan Parrott also briefly entered the transfer portal but has since withdrawn his name.
