The New Town Hall of Scharrachbergheim, a small Alsatian village, is a masterpiece of architecture that seamlessly blends contemporary design with a timeless, rooted aesthetic. AL PEPE architects have crafted a building that not only integrates into the village's landscape but also enhances it. The design team's vision was to create a structure that exudes horizontality and transparency, mirroring the village's colombages and the surrounding trees. The wooden structure's external regular framework emphasizes the public dimension of the building while ensuring a refined and elegant appearance. The dark, velvety pine tar and the sizing of the wooden columns echo the village's colombages and the site's trees, creating a harmonious connection between the building and its surroundings. The corten steel expanded mesh cladding adds a woven texture to the facade, reminiscent of the local Vosges sandstone, a stone prevalent in the historic village. This contemporary design is both rigorous and gentle, as if it has always been an integral part of the village's history. The project gallery showcases the building's beauty and functionality, inviting visitors to explore its unique features and appreciate its seamless integration into the village's landscape.
