Bold claim: Screamer’s opening reveal shows a future where street racing is more than a thrill—it’s a high-stakes, story-driven battle on neon-lit streets. But here’s where it gets controversial: is a flashy narrative with JRPG-inspired dialogue enough to stand out in a crowded arcade racer scene?
Milestone and publisher PLAION pull back the curtain with a fresh trailer for Screamer, the speed-focused, story-driven arcade racer slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The title aims for a March 26, 2026 launch, with Early Access kicking off on March 23.
The trailer opens to the driving tempo of Survive, performed by J-Pop group WAGAMAMARAKIA, and sketches the game’s opening hours as a relentless blend of cinematic cutscenes, bold driving action, and JRPG-inspired storytelling. Each team comes with its own backstory and motive for entering The Tournament, billed as the biggest illegal street race event in Neo Rey. What drives the Screamers isn’t merely the billion-dollar prize offered by the enigmatic Mr. A; it’s a richer puzzle about loyalty, risk, and identity on the neon streets.
Character and car design reflect a broad spectrum of personalities. Each vehicle carries distinct handling and special abilities that mirror the driver’s style, building a diverse, personality-rich lineup right from the start.
Voice work features international actors delivering lively, character-driven dialogue. Players will get to grips with the game’s core systems during early tutorials, learning the Twin Stick control scheme to pilot every car precisely, alongside the Echo System—the unique tech that powers both offense and defense, and lends a sense of “immortality” to Screamer’s cars.
The opening sequences weave narrative and action to ease players into the full depth of Screamer’s gameplay as the story unfolds. Early demonstrations also tease special events, such as Team Races, where simply crossing the line first isn’t a guaranteed win, signaling a deeper strategic layer to the competition.
Screamer launches March 26, 2026, across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
