For those who might have missed the Tamagotchi craze, these were the ultimate virtual pets. Released in Japan in 1996, they quickly took the world by storm. You were responsible for feeding, cleaning up after, and generally caring for your digital companion as it evolved. It was a simpler time, wasn't it?
Uniqlo's collection, launching on December 15th, features four unique women's T-shirt designs. Each shirt showcases a different Tamagotchi character or logo, all inspired by the pixelated art of the original devices. And the price? A cool $19.90 – a small price to pay for a trip down memory lane.
But that's not all! You can also snag an actual Tamagotchi device, designed to look just like the original, for $39.90. It's a fun way to relive the experience, or introduce a new generation to the joys (and responsibilities) of virtual pet ownership.
And this is the part most people miss...The comeback is real! These little gadgets are becoming fashion accessories, with people attaching them to bags and waists as decorative charms.
To celebrate the collaboration and the 30th anniversary of Tamagotchi, Uniqlo has even set up a website with original mini-games. One game lets you control a Uniqlo-wearing Mametchi, the virtual pet, as it gathers food and more.
